Seriously. I've got a wider gap than that, but still, the 60s generation is the Young Generation. Also known as the Big Kids. Or, as my mom said, The Crazy Teenagers with the Crazy Teenage Music. Granted, these guys were older than their fans, but still ...

I'm sure every generation has always felt the same, from Plato on. "Bach? Gone? You mean that hip young musician with those great organ riffs?" But they're wrong, cuz they really WERE old. Unlike the 60s generation.

Yup; I will make a bet with ANY 20 Forumites: if you are 60 +/- 5 yrs, half of you won't be here in 20 yrs...

Yikes.

Depressing, eh?

But, if I recall, you are NOT (barely) in that group (without revealing too much info--just basing it on comments re: HS, etc.), so be happy! [You aren't in "that" group as well due to the XY thingy...comes in handy on this!?]

Which half of me wont be here in 20 years? Left side, right side, bottom, top? Or will it be on the bias?
Yikes indeed =}
Consider me in the 'KY' group that 'comes in handy'.

Pffftttttt.

I'm planning on 102. Which puts me halfway there. I wonder if I get anything for being 100 at FloydFest 61?

"I wonder if I get anything for being 100 at FloydFest 61?" (after several free beers)~ 1~ heatstroke 2~ a stroke 3~ a ride to the hospital 4~ a sense of wonderment 5~ a nice bowel movement 6~ a Tshirt that reads "I went to Floydfest 61 and all I got was a lousy death certificate" Then get buried/burned up in this: (Organic Men's Fitted T-Shirt): http://www.cafepress.com/mf/69257340/all-the-cool-bands_tshirt?productId=663648415 better?

Interesting that you think the Lord of the Deep should be wearing a woman's t-shirt...

Ah, glad everyone took it the right way...er, well, light-heartedly, I think?

;)

That's the spirit; buck the trend, fight the statistics...but, yeah, us guys have some trouble lasting much past 80 if we are currently ~ 20 yrs short of that mark.

I really have just been struck by how many folks are passing, like everyone else noted...jeeezzz. Made me realize it's not that far ahead, eh?

...and here I thought it was Roger Waters writing those depressing lyrics for Pink Floyd !
But true . I am not yet in my 60's, but "Black Peter" means more to me now than when I was hearing Jerry sing it live ! That I am now older than George Harrison, Frank Zappa, and Jerry Garcia, when they died, is sobering .
The Doors were a favs of me "youth", but Ray's passing just seems like par for the course , these days, Glad he made to his 70's .
If any death marked the end of the 60's , it was John Lennon's , or strangely, maybe Richard Nixon's .

So because I am a mere 50 I guess I've got a 50/50 chance of not being here in 30 years.

It is a little depressing.

They are not depressed!!

Took them out to dinner last night . . . geez it's expensive for 5 people at a restaurant!! I told them next week dinner is at the Apartment and its dogs & beans!!

My 17 year old told me how when I was old and bed ridden she was going get pay back (for what I don't know), and I told her when it was my time to go I was going quick and not lingering.

It was a fun dinner.

Thanks for the update; yea, our three (boys) are just about out of the house...but we still find ways to pester them about this and that; don't think it'll ever stop.
